Curaçao Hosts Successful 28th Annual PMAC Meeting with Regional Maritime Agreements and Awards

WILLEMSTAD — From June 4 to 6, 2025, the 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC) took place. Hosted by the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), the event brought together more than 260 port managers, maritime professionals, and regional partners for three days of networking and knowledge exchange.

The core themes of this year’s AGM focused on port modernization, digital innovation, environmental awareness, and workforce development. Presentations and panel discussions offered opportunities for reflection, new insights, and the sharing of sector experiences.

During the event, two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. The first, between PMAC and the Suriname Port Training Institute (SPTI), underlined a joint commitment to training and capacity building in the Caribbean region. The second MoU, signed by Surldric Rojer, Managing Director of KTK Tugs Curaçao; Darwin Telemaque, CEO of the Antigua Port Authority; and Calvin Duggins, COO of the St. Christopher Air and Seaports Authority, marked a regional milestone in maritime cooperation. This agreement aims to improve tug services, enhance safety, and achieve economies of scale between the ports of Saint Kitts & Nevis and Antigua & Barbuda.

Reflecting on the conference opening, Humberto de Castro, CEO of CPA, said, “Curaçao has always been a connector—of goods, cultures, and ideas. I am proud to continue this legacy during PMAC 2025.” PMAC Chairman Darwin Telemaque added, “I was deeply impressed by the careful organization by our host island. With over 260 participants for the first time, Curaçao has raised the bar for future editions of this gathering. We leave inspired, well-informed, and more strongly connected.”

The meeting concluded with the PMAC Awards Gala, recognizing excellence in categories such as membership recognition, sponsorship, first-time participation, and most improved port performance. This year, the award for Most Improved Port Performance went to Grand Port Maritime de Guadeloupe.

Both CPA and PMAC expressed their gratitude to all sponsors whose support contributed to the success of this year’s Annual General Meeting.
