Curaçao government welcomes judge's decision on medical specialists' salary cap

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government expresses satisfaction with the recent ruling in summary proceedings regarding the legal dispute between medical specialists and the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) over the application of the National Ordinance Norming Top Incomes. The disputed law will now be applicable to medical specialists at the CMC.

The medical specialists had sought legal intervention to exempt themselves from the law's provisions. However, the judge ruled in favor of the government, dismissing all claims made by the CMC and holding the hospital responsible for the legal expenses incurred. Consequently, a salary cap may now be implemented for medical specialists.

Health Minister Javier Silvania expresses his contentment with the clarity provided by the court's decision. He intends to initiate discussions promptly with the hospital and the medical specialists to address the current situation.
