WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curaçao will not agree to the amended proposal of the Kingdom Act for the establishment of COHO.

Minister of Finance Javier Silvania flew to The Hague to file an objection on Friday in the Kingdom Council of Ministers on behalf of the Pisas cabinet. He will suggest that the amended proposal be submitted to the Council of State of the Kingdom for advice. According to Silvania, Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops has insufficiently adjusted the bill.

The government previously submitted a request to the Advisory Council (RvA) to advise whether the amended proposal of the Kingdom Act sufficiently guarantees the autonomy of Curaçao.

According to the RvA, it is up to the government to weigh up the various interests that are at stake and what the opposite will be if autonomy is given up. The council itself concluded that it would not approve the amended bill for the time being.
