WILLEMSTAD – The Asosashon di Grupos di Karnaval di Kòrsou (AGKK) recently held a meeting with carnival group leaders to determine the parade order for the upcoming 2024 Carnival celebrations. The event took place at Sambil and was broadcast live, allowing the public to follow the discussions. 

During the meeting, it was confirmed that four groups will participate in the traditional horse parade. In addition to this equestrian event, a motorcycle and Volkswagen ‘Beetle’ parade will also take place. Organizers anticipate large crowds along the parade route on Sunday, as the festival continues to grow in popularity. 

Growing Participation and Last-Minute Entries 

The number of participating groups is increasing, with several groups even registering at the last minute. Carnival remains a beloved tradition, especially among young people, who see it as a way to express creativity and cultural pride. 

For the larger carnival groups, the selection of starting positions created some tension, as certain groups were eager to secure a specific spot in the lineup. This led to negotiations between group leaders. To accommodate requests, AGKK allowed groups to exchange positions, ensuring that everyone was satisfied with the final arrangement. 

With the parade order now set, excitement is building for what promises to be a vibrant and unforgettable Carnival season in Curaçao.
