THE HAGUE – Curaçao is taking concrete steps toward the establishment of a Bureau of Integrity and the broader strengthening of its public sector. In this context, key meetings are currently being held in the Netherlands with strategic partners, including the anonymous reporting platform Meld Misdaad Anoniem. This platform allows citizens to report suspected integrity violations completely anonymously.
Officials from Curaçao have also held discussions with representatives of the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK), including the Director of Personnel & Organization, the Head of Kingdom Relations, and the quartermaster appointed for the establishment of Curaçao’s own Bureau of Integrity. The aim of these meetings is to gain insights into the integrity framework used in the Netherlands and to deepen cooperation in this crucial area.
Curaçao previously ratified the UN Convention against Corruption and is currently working on the institutional framework for its own Bureau of Integrity. The government has emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties with international partners to ensure the success of this initiative.
In addition to promoting integrity, Curaçao is also exploring partnerships in the field of digital governance. The country is actively seeking inspiration and expertise from abroad, holding talks with the ambassadors of Kazakhstan and Estonia in The Hague—two nations recognized as frontrunners in digital government. These knowledge exchanges aim to build strategic alliances and explore innovative solutions that could support Curaçao’s digital transformation.
Through these initiatives, Curaçao is signaling its commitment to transparency, good governance, and modernization of public services.
