WILLEMSTAD - Nearly 30 million guilders will be drawn from Curaçao’s Crime Fund to finance priority projects for the government. This is outlined in a management plan prepared by Justice Minister Shalten Hato for 2024. A total of 29.2 million guilders will be allocated to at least 18 projects, with significant investments aimed at crime prevention, education, and sports programs, particularly focusing on youth crime.
Minister Hato emphasized that his goal for 2024 is to continue investing in the justice system, as well as daily rehabilitation activities at both the SDKK (Penitentiary) and JJIC (Juvenile Justice Institution of Curaçao). He further explained that the establishment of this fund was intended to ensure sufficient financial resources are available annually to implement the Ministry of Justice’s policies effectively, efficiently, and professionally in the fight against crime.
