WILLEMSTAD - This morning during the daily briefing Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth indicated that the confirmed positive cases remained 14 with 1 still inconclusive. The doctor did not say if they will continue testing this person. But the person will remain in quarantine.
10 have recovered from the virus and 2 are still active. 15 are still in the travel related quarantine. They are the ones who returned to the island after the measures were announced. 20 people who were in contact with those infected are being actively monitored
The doctor says that they expect measures to be relaxed this week, despite last Monday's extension. The appointments at the outpatient clinic and other forms of care must be able to continue.
“We must also keep our distance in terms of relaxation. There is no indication that the virus has spread widely in Curaçao. We hope to be able to announce the easing of health care tomorrow. It is going well, there are no indicators of dissemination thanks to our strict social distancing measures. It's probably not many more infections from 14.
A meeting will be held tonight about regular health care. This needs to continue, and consultancies must open again to protect children against other viruses. Parents will be contacted via WhatsApp according to the regular vaccination program. Vaccinations at school (from 4 years) are still being postponed.
The doctor stressed that these vaccinations are not related to the COVID-19 virus. “There are no vaccinations for this virus, these are related to other viruses.”
