COVID-19 Update: “Confirmed cases remain 14 with 1 inconclusive”

WILLEMSTAD - This morning the epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth gave the daily briefing on the COVID-19 virus. The total confirmed cases remain at 14 with 1 inconclusive. This person will be tested again. 1 is still in the hospital, 10 are now safe and 2 are still active. 241 have been tested so far. There are also 16 who are being actively monitored.

From the 1500+ who returned to the island after the measures were announced, 15 are still in quarantine but have not shown any symptoms.

The doctor also indicated that soon every effort must be made to relax the measures taken in the fight against the COVID-19. “We also collect a lot of data and we must have everything in place in case of an outbreak.”

Gerstenbluth said that consultations are being held with the hospital to allow normal care to function again from next week.

“For this week, we can already look at expanding the individual freedom movement: walking, being outside and other such activities. We want to give this freedom to the population as soon as possible. We must be sure that everything is in order before that happens, we ask for patience for this.”
