Court Rejects Lo Martines’ Appeal

WILLEMSTAD – The Court of Justice has dismissed the appeal against the rejection of Lo Martines' request to lift or suspend his pretrial detention. This was confirmed by the Public Prosecution Service in response to media inquiries.

The former parliamentarian has been in custody since November 5, 2024, on suspicion of drug trafficking and money laundering as part of Operation Bleda, an investigation that has been ongoing for over a year. At the time of his arrest, the Public Prosecution Service emphasized that it was a major step in a long-term investigation into serious criminal offenses that pose a significant threat to public safety. Some of the alleged crimes were committed while Martines was still serving as a member of parliament.

With this ruling, Martines will remain in custody for the time being.
