Cooper fears for the future of refinery employees

WILLEMSTAD - Member of the opposition party MFK, Charles Cooper fears that more than half of the 900 employees of the refinery will not get a contract with the new operator Klesch Group.

The MP has been quite active lately in the media to bring his message across. Cooper says that the employees now have a temporary contract with Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU), which expires on 30 June. The contract with CRU is to prevent that the employees will not have any income during the transition period.

But Cooper believes that after June 30 most of the employees will be out of work.
