The three met in Oranjestad on Aruba
ORANJESTAD - Venezuela is undoubtedly high on the agenda of the consultations of the Prime Ministers of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint-Maarten.
The three met this week in Oranjestad on Aruba. Also present are the ministers of finance of the three countries. And that has to do with the fact that all three islands face the same problem: how do you get a balanced government budget.
All three are fearing a financial instruction from the Council of Ministers. The issue is that the ministers don’t believe they should implement more austerity measures which can cause the people to suffer more. The Committee for Financial Supervision disagrees and says that more austerity measures should be implemented. The government should also act tougher against companies that are not paying taxes.
