Committee presents final advice on future-proof senior policy

WILLEMSTAD - The committee to formulate the future-proof seniors policy presented the final advice to Minister Hensley Koeiman of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare on Wednesday 29 July 2020. The committee consists of representatives of the Council of Elderly, the senior organizations Kopamko, the Policy Organization and the Social Development Sector of the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare.

The final advice includes safety, health care, participation, and housing. It is advisable to set up a knowledge center to collect data that will lead to a policy that focuses more on seniors. Other advice is to come up with a residential center for the elderly (Senior Village), making old-age facilities more flexible, strengthening purchasing power, etc. The government will have to act as a catalyst for this. The committee's report is available on the government's website. For more information, please contact Victor Monk, Director of the Social Development Sector of the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare.
