Comments by Dittrich increase tensions, claims Fundashon Kòrsou na Kaminda pa Libertat

WILLEMSTAD - Fundashon Kòrsou na Kaminda pa Libertat has expressed strong disagreement with a proposal made by Dutch Senate member Boris Dittrich last week in the Netherlands. The D66 politician suggested that Aruba and Curaçao should play a role in the Dutch defense industry. According to the foundation, which advocates for sovereignty, Dittrich's remarks could escalate tensions between the Netherlands and Venezuela, a situation that the organization believes should be avoided at all costs.

During a debate in the Senate with the Dutch Minister of Defense, Dittrich inquired whether Aruba and Curaçao could be involved in the production or storage of weapons and ammunition for the Dutch armed forces. The foundation argues that with this proposal, the Netherlands is "once again causing tension and unrest in the relationship between the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom and Venezuela."

Fundashon Kòrsou na Kaminda pa Libertat's response underscores the delicate balance of international relations in the region and highlights the potential consequences of political decisions made in the Netherlands regarding Caribbean territories. The organization is urging policymakers to consider the implications of their proposals on regional stability and diplomatic relations.
