Cold case solved by fingerprint

WILLEMSTAD - An unknown fingerprint eventually led to authorities solving a murder case. The perpetrator has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

On April 2, 2015, a 90-year-old man was found dead in his home after a violent theft. On a safe in the bedroom, the detectives found a fingerprint of someone who was not in the police system.

Recently, the 34-year-old man with the last name Basilia was arrested for another criminal offense. During the investigation in this case, police officers took Basilia’s fingerprint. It turned out to be identical with the fingerprint that was found on the safe.
