Coastguard shoots illegal man at sea

WILLEMSTAD - The Caribbean Coast Guard fired shots last night at the arrest of an illegal boat in the waters of Curaçao. A man was injured as a result.

The Coast Guard received the report last night that another illegal boat had been spotted near Curaçao. Action was taken immediately and the go-fast was intercepted.

"The Coast Guard was forced to shoot for several reasons," reports the Coast Guard. One undocumented man was injured in the abdomen. A defense helicopter picked up the man at sea and transported him to Hato. An ambulance then took the man to the Curaçao Medical Center.

The rest of the group of undocumented migrants was taken to the naval base in Parera. It turned out that there were also drugs on board.
