Coast guard rescues again

WILLEMSTAD - In recent years, the Coast Guard has performed more rescue than previously assumed. Mostly Venezuelan migrants, according to answers from Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld to questions from the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament.

The increase is remarkable because Undersecretary of Interior and Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops has twice indicated that there has actually been a decrease. 95 people were rescued by the coast guard in 2018.

In 2017 that number was 61 and in 2016 only 34 people.
