Chaos aboard Carnival cruise ship

WILLEMSTAD - Chaos erupted aboard the Carnival cruise ship after passengers discovered that the planned itinerary had been completely changed. The ship was originally scheduled to visit destinations including Curaçao, but due to technical issues, the route had to be altered.

Passengers reacted angrily upon learning that the cruise line was aware of the issues before departure but only informed them once they were on the ship. Adding to their frustration was the fact that the revised itinerary was significantly cheaper than the original trip.

The new route replaces the planned stops in Aruba, Curaçao, and the Turks and Caicos Islands with Nassau, Princess Cays, Freeport, and Half Moon Cay. According to Carnival, the route change was necessary due to engine problems, which prevented the ship from reaching full speed after departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.

Technicians attempted to address the issue, which was limiting the ship's speed. Carnival apologized for the unexpected disruption to vacation plans and regretted their inability to stick to the original schedule.

As compensation, the cruise line offered passengers the option to cancel their trip and receive a full refund or a $400 voucher for those who chose to continue the journey despite the new route.
