WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten is urging the community to utilize loose change for cash transactions or to exchange it at their offices. Individuals can exchange coins at the cash department of the Central Bank in Scharloo from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. This service is provided free of charge. The bank emphasizes that every coin counts and encourages those with significant amounts of change to actively use it.
Next year, Curaçao and Sint Maarten will adopt a new currency, the Caribbean guilder. In light of this transition, the public is being asked to spend their loose change rather than hoarding it, as a substantial amount of coinage remains unused in the community.
