Carnival Season Kicks Off in Curaçao with Parades and Road Closures

WILLEMSTAD The much-anticipated carnival season in Curaçao officially begins this Saturday with a Jump Up and two parades. The festivities will bring vibrant energy to the streets, but they will also lead to several road closures around the Rooseveltweg, impacting local traffic. The Unidat di Bario Kòrsou and Fundashon di Karnaval Kòrsou (FDKK) have urged residents of nearby neighborhoods to plan accordingly. 

The first event, a youth parade, will begin at 5:00 PM, starting from Cabo Verdeweg and heading toward Hato. This parade is expected to last 45 minutes to an hour. Later, at 8:00 PM, the teen and adult parade will start from Topsmart and follow a similar route toward Hato, lasting between 90 minutes and two hours. 

Road Closures and Traffic Advisory 
To accommodate the parades, several road closures have been announced: 

Cabo Verdeweg and F.D. Rooseveltweg: Closed from 3:00 PM. 

Mahumaweg, Maïshiweg, and Seru Fortunaweg: Closed from 4:00 PM. 

Pizzahut area: Closed from 6:00 PM. 

Micaweg/Goede Hoop: Closed from 7:00 PM. 

All roads connecting to Rooseveltweg: Closed from 7:30 PM. 

FDKK and Unidat di Bario Kòrsou have called for understanding and cooperation from residents, ensuring a smooth and festive start to the carnival season.
