WILLEMSTAD - The canteen allowance for prisoners will be increased by 250 guilders to 750 guilders. Minister Shalten Hato announced this yesterday, stating that the Council of Ministers has approved the proposal. This allows family members or acquaintances to deposit more money for the inmate. 

Prisoners will now have 750 guilders in their canteen accounts, enabling them to purchase necessary items within the prison. Their family members are required to deposit this amount. 

Minister Hato justified his decision due to the rising prices of products and other expenses covered by the canteen allowance, making an increase to 750 guilders justifiable.
