At the request of Curaçao aviation treaty signed with Iceland

BRUSSELS - An aviation treaty between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Iceland was signed today in Brussels for the benefit of Curaçao. This happened at the Kingdom Embassy in Belgium by Ambassador Pieter Jan Kleiweg van de Zwaan and his Icelandic counterpart Kristján Andri Stefánsson.

The aviation treaty was established at the request of the Curaçao government because the promotion of air traffic is considered important for tourism and trade from Iceland to Curaçao. There are (yet) no airlines that have expressed an interest in the route.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on aviation treaties with several dozen countries in which Curaçao and Sint Maarten are interested.
