Aqualectra urged to expedite analysis and take preventive measures

WILLEMSTAD - The utility company Aqualectra is facing mounting pressure to swiftly deliver detailed analyses of the recent blackouts. Aqualectra director Darick Jonis revealed that Minister Cijntje of Economic Development has demanded prompt explanations regarding the two power outages that occurred within the span of just eight days. Acknowledging the minister's concerns, Jonis understands the need for transparency and accountability in addressing the situation.

Minister Cijntje has requested comprehensive reports, a clear account of events, and a well-defined action plan from Aqualectra within a specified timeframe, Jonis disclosed. The minister's expectations reflect the urgency of the matter and the necessity of preventive measures to safeguard against future power disruptions. Aqualectra is fully committed to fulfilling these demands and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to the community in the near future.

The recent blackouts have raised questions about the reliability and resilience of Aqualectra's infrastructure and operations. To restore public confidence and address the concerns raised by Minister Cijntje, Aqualectra is working diligently to conduct thorough analyses of the blackouts. These analyses will shed light on the causes of the outages and provide valuable insights for implementing necessary improvements.

In addition to meeting the immediate requirements set by the minister, Aqualectra recognizes the importance of taking proactive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The company is focusing on strengthening its infrastructure, implementing robust maintenance protocols, and enhancing its emergency response procedures. By investing in these areas, Aqualectra aims to minimize the likelihood of power disruptions and ensure a reliable and stable electricity supply for the community.

Aqualectra says it remains committed to open communication and transparency throughout this process. The company acknowledges the public's concerns and emphasizes its dedication to resolving the issues at hand. The forthcoming reports and action plan will not only address the specific incidents but also outline a comprehensive strategy for long-term improvements in the power infrastructure and distribution systems.

As Aqualectra diligently works to meet the minister's expectations and prioritize preventive measures, the company aims to restore trust and confidence among the public, said the director. “The people of Curaçao can rest assured that Aqualectra is actively taking steps to rectify the situation, ensuring a resilient and reliable electricity supply that meets the needs of the community.”

Jonis assured that in the coming days, the utility company will provide further updates on the progress made, demonstrating its commitment to resolving the recent challenges and building a more resilient energy future for Curaçao.
