Aqualectra replaces conventional street lighting with smart LED lighting in Caracas Bay

WILLEMSTAD - The Caracas Bay is now equipped with smart LED lighting, as part of Aqualectra's project to replace conventional street lighting with LED lighting in Curaçao. The CEO of Aqualectra, Mr. Darick Jonis, has indicated that the company is ready to enter neighborhoods with smart LED lighting and that the lighting on some roads has already been completely replaced.

Replacing conventional street lighting with smart LED lighting will not only give the island a different look, but also increase safety in all neighborhoods of Curaçao. Although Aqualectra still expects challenges in replacing the lighting in some neighborhoods, the company has indicated that if everything goes according to plan, more than 33,000 lighting points in Curaçao will be replaced by LED lighting by the end of 2024.

Aqualectra continues to work with the government to ensure that the project is carried out in the most efficient and safe manner. The company aims to complete this project as soon as possible so that the island can enjoy the benefits of smart LED lighting.
