WILLEMSTAD - The well-known Curaçao anthropologist Drs. Shulaika "Su" Girigori passed away this weekend from the effects of the coronavirus. Girigorie was active in various government organizations in the field of education and science. She was also a member of the Curaçao Culture Council.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture says it has been deeply affected by the sudden death of the anthropologist. Girigorie also taught at the University of Curaçao. Her family has been badly affected by the COVID-19 virus. Her mother died a few days earlier from a corona infection. Several family members are still in the hospital, including her father.
