Air traffic Curaçao must consider volcanic eruption

WILLEMSTAD - Air traffic to Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire can be affected by the ash from the erupting volcano Le Soufriere. This was announced by the Meteorological Department of Curaçao. It is the first time that ash has come in a cloud formation towards the islands.

The reason is the changing wind direction. The area with ash travels north of the ABC islands. Except for air traffic, no nuisance is expected on land.

The Soufrìere is still active. A few days ago, there was another eruption, with the ash mass drifting westward like a gray cloud.
