Agreement reached for parking management in Punda and Otrobanda

WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning Charles Cooper and Willemstad Parking Management reached an agreement on Tuesday regarding the management of parking spaces in Punda and Otrobanda. This was announced by the minister in a press release.

For a long time, it was unclear who would take on the management, but after a careful selection process, Willemstad Parking Management remained. "We have plans to invest a portion of the proceeds in the city center," said Willemstad Parking Management. They have signed a five-year contract.

The management company will collaborate with Securitas BV and Flowbird SAS to ensure smooth management. For visitors to the city center, this means they can pay for their parking spot in multiple ways. The options currently on the table include using an app on their mobile phone, a prepaid parking card, or making a payment at the parking meter. The latter can be done via swipe or cash.

The forecast is that all formalities will be completed by the high season, around August, and that management can commence. Cooper stated that more information about the entire process will be provided in the coming months.
