Accountant must repay 1.1 million guilders

WILLEMSTAD - Accountant Henri Jourdain was sentenced last week to repay more than 1.1 million guilders to the Social Insurance Bank (SVB).

The court holds Jourdain responsible for starting 50 projects for the former Stichting Bureau Ziektekosten Verzekering (the Foundation for Health Care Costs Insurance), which is now part of the SVB.

This includes billing for partly fabricated and partly meaningless assignments, for which 5.4 million guilders have been received. In addition to the fine of more than one million guilders, Jourdain must also pay for the costs of the court proceedings.
