954 primary and special education students experience tourism

WILLEMSTAD - From 23 September to 23 October, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) organized the second edition of the Kids Tourism Experience for students of primary and special education schools. As part of the project, the students participated in various tours, workshops and educational activities to get acquainted with the tourism industry. The project is part of the tourism introduction program in schools, which was launched two years ago. The goal of introducing tourism as a subject is to help broaden students’ knowledge about the importance of tourism for our island and, at the same time, spark their interest in this vital industry. Like last year, group 5 students have been learning about tourism through videos and a workbook, and now they had the opportunity to experience firsthand a portion of what they had seen in the videos. A total of 954 students from 28 schools participated in the Kids Tourism Experience 2024.

As part of the Kids Tourism Experience 2024, the students participated in various educational tours. They visited the airport to see how tourist enter our island, explored hotels where tourists can stay, engaged in several cultural activities, visited the Mega Pier to observe cruise passenger arrivals and several tourist attractions like Amazonia, a trolley ride, the submarine experience, the Ostrich Farm, and many more. A total of 22 partners in the tourism industry voluntarily opened their doors for the students to experience their products and services. The students asked many questions, which will surely help them better understand what they learn in their tourism lessons. The transportation costs for visiting the various sites were covered by CTB. Once again, this year the participating partners provided the students with an unforgettable experience. CTB is currently working on introducing tourism as a subject in group 6 as well, and the material will include various videos on interesting tourism-related topics.
