WILLEMSTAD - Norma Petronilia-Smith, an 82-year-old woman from Curaçao, tragically drowned yesterday morning at Parasasa Beach. Witnesses reported that the woman became unwell while swimming and subsequently drowned. 

At 8:37 a.m., police received a report of a drowning incident at Playa Sonesta, located near Parasasa Beach. Witnesses saw the woman floating in the sea and immediately brought her to shore. Bystanders and later paramedics made efforts to resuscitate her, but despite these attempts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident is currently under investigation, though preliminary findings suggest that the woman became unwell while swimming. Further details regarding the cause of her distress are still being examined.
