8 million guilders in overtime by police

WILLEMSTAD - During the COVID-19 crisis in Curacao, the police overtime has increased significantly. In the first six months of this year, it has risen to almost 8.5 million guilders.

It is included in an interim report on the course of the COVID-19 crisis on the island that was submitted to Parliament last week. In addition to the extra hours, the police also had to invest in adjustment costs such as installing plexiglass at the police stations and modifications in the departure and arrival hall of the airport.

Furthermore, all kinds of cleaning products had to be purchased additionally and cleaning staff had to be hired.
