WILLEMSTAD – A total of 600 firearms have been returned to a gun dealer in Santa Rosa after being seized last year. The Curaçao police faced immense pressure to return the weapons, and this process was finally completed this week.
However, reliable sources indicate that not all of the confiscated weapons have been fully examined. Due to the large volume of firearms, police initially aimed to conduct a thorough investigation to determine if any of them had been used in crimes on the island. However, according to sources, this investigation was never completed.
Further inquiries revealed that the company had supplied weapons to certain security firms, but the firearms ended up in the hands of individuals who were not security personnel. Additionally, some of the weapons were found in the possession of people who do not reside in Curaçao, even though they were officially registered under the company's name.
The case has raised serious concerns about the regulation and distribution of firearms on the island. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether further actions will be taken regarding the handling of these weapons.
