4,620 Votes Cast in Curaçao’s Primary Elections

WILLEMSTAD – A total of 4,620 people turned out to cast their votes this Saturday and Sunday during the primary elections. Voters had the opportunity to participate at one of the twelve polling stations set up for the occasion. 

A total of eight political parties were on the ballot, all of which needed to secure at least 848 votes to qualify for the official elections on March 21. The final results of the primary elections are expected to be announced at a later stage. 

The highest voter turnout this weekend was recorded at the Santa Maria community center (787 votes) and the Maris Stella VSBO school in Montaña (772 votes). Additionally, 60 inmates at the SDKK prison exercised their right to vote for one of the participating parties. 

The parties that tried to pass the electoral threshold were Kousa Prome, Miho Korsou, Pueblo Soberano, MDDK, Partido pa Penshonado, Era Nobo Pa Korsou, Civil Rights Movement, and Up.
