WILLEMSTAD - Robert de Jesus' PKP political party has dropped out. Last Thursday, the candidate list was submitted by him at the last minute.
On Friday he announced that the PKP will not participate in the primaries this weekend. This now leaves 16 parties, each of which must receive at least 789 votes in order to participate in the parliamentary elections on 19 March.
The primaries will take place January 30 and 31 in eleven polling stations, including 1 in the SDKK prison. Anyone who wants to support a party must be entitled to vote and bring an ID to the polling station.
Last weekend, various parties campaigned on the island. Many parties have also hung flags along public roads. The campaign of the KEM party in particular drew a large audience. KEM was present in Marie Pampoen, Jan Doret and Wishi, among others, and handed out checks with which people could shop at Centrum Supermarkt.
