Opposition parties PAR and MAN seek Dialogue with CMC and CHV over HAP operations

WILLEMSTAD - Opposition parties PAR and MAN have expressed their desire to engage in discussions with representatives from the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) and the Curaçao House Doctors Association (CHV) regarding the operations of the House Doctors Post (HAP). Their concerns arise from recent allegations made by HAP leadership during a public Staten meeting.

During the session on October 14, HAP Chief Physician Alexandra Severing criticized the CHV, with support from Acting CMC Director Jean-Pierre Doran. Both representatives pointed to tensions with the CHV and other involved parties, raising alarms about the current state of collaboration in the healthcare sector.

In response, MAN Staten member Giselle Mc William proposed hearing from the CHV and CMC in a Central Committee meeting, emphasizing the need for all parties to share their perspectives amid fears of deteriorating cooperation between the HAP and other healthcare institutions.

The CHV has since expressed regret over Severing's accusations. CHV President Elger Jacobus labeled Severing's comments as "unreliable," arguing that such statements have damaged the reputation of the medical profession.

The proposed meeting aims to clarify the ongoing issues and foster better communication among the healthcare stakeholders in Curaçao.
