WILLEMSTAD - In the first three days of their memory test project, the Alzheimer Foundation Curaçao has already tested 207 individuals. This project, which started on April 9 and runs until May 16, offers everyone the opportunity to have their memory tested.
The interest was so great that not all interested individuals could be tested. The organization apologizes for this and is working on solutions to increase capacity.
Adjustments have already been made to the schedule: now, 45-50 individuals can be tested per session. Numbers are distributed to ensure orderly proceedings. The foundation greatly appreciates the collaboration with Sambil and Eden Mall, which provide spaces for the tests.
The response indicates a significant concern within the community about dementia and memory loss. The foundation also wants to share some tips to reduce the risk of dementia/Alzheimer's. Healthy nutrition is crucial, including dark green leafy vegetables, berries, olive and coconut oil, and fish. Regular cardiovascular exercises, at least 30 minutes, five times a week, are essential, as well as adequate sleep and annual doctor's visits.
